## General Questions

### What is semi-permanent makeup (PMU)?
Semi-permanent makeup, also called permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing, is a technique that implants pigment into the skin to create the appearance of makeup. Unlike traditional tattoos, PMU uses pigments designed to fade naturally over 1-3 years, allowing your look to evolve with beauty trends and your changing preferences.

### Does it hurt?
Most clients describe the sensation as mild discomfort rather than pain. We use professional-grade numbing cream throughout the procedure to ensure your comfort. Pain tolerance varies, but the vast majority of clients tolerate the process very well and are surprised it's less uncomfortable than expected.

### How long does PMU last?
- **Brows:** 1-2 years (microblading), 2-3 years (ombre/powder)
- **Eyeliner:** 2-3 years
- **Lips:** 2-3 years
- **Lash Lift:** 6-8 weeks

Longevity depends on skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, and skincare products used.

### Is it safe?
Yes, when performed by a trained professional using proper techniques and medical-grade tools. We follow strict sanitation protocols, use only high-quality pigments, and are fully licensed and certified. All tools are sterilized or single-use disposable.

### How much does it cost?
Our services range from $20 (simple brow trim) to $1,300 (complex melanin care). Most PMU services are $400-$600. View our [Services](/collections/all-services) page for complete pricing.

### Do you offer consultations?
Yes! Every new client receives a complimentary consultation where we discuss your goals, assess your features, design your perfect look, and answer all questions. There's no obligation to book—it's just an opportunity to meet and plan.

## The Procedure

### What is the process?
1. **Consultation:** Discuss your goals and expectations
2. **Design:** Draw and perfect your desired shape
3. **Color Selection:** Match perfect pigment to your skin tone
4. **Numbing:** Apply numbing cream (20-30 minutes)
5. **Application:** Create your beautiful results
6. **Review:** Ensure you love the outcome
7. **Aftercare:** Detailed instructions provided

### Can I see the design before you start?
Absolutely! We draw the design with removable pencil first. You'll see exactly what it will look like, and we make adjustments until you're 100% happy. Nothing is permanent until you approve.

### Can I choose the color?
Yes! We'll discuss your preferences and show you options. We recommend colors based on your skin tone, hair color, and desired look, but the final decision is always yours.

### Will it look natural?
That's our specialty! We create results that enhance your features naturally. Your PMU should look like "you on your best day"—not obviously done.

**Weeks 2-6:** Color returns to true shade

- Excessive sweating/exercise
- Sun exposure

**For 4 weeks:**
- Retinol, acids, exfoliants on treated area

### When do I come back for a touch-up?
Your initial service includes a complimentary touch-up at 6-8 weeks. This perfects color and shape after healing. It's a critical part of the process and highly recommended.

## Special Situations

### Can I get PMU if I'm pregnant or nursing?
No, we do not perform PMU on pregnant or nursing clients. We're happy to book you after you're done nursing!

### Do you work on all skin tones?
Yes! We have experience with all skin tones and ethnicities. Our color selection and techniques are customized to your unique complexion.

### What if I have allergies?
Please inform us of any allergies during consultation. We use hypoallergenic pigments, but if you have metal allergies or sensitive skin, we may recommend a patch test first.

### Can you cover old/bad PMU?
Often yes, but it depends on the existing work. Some may need lightening or removal first. Book a consultation and we'll assess what's possible.

### I have a medical condition—can I still get PMU?
Please inform us of any medical conditions. Some conditions may require doctor's clearance. We cannot perform PMU if you're on Accutane (must wait 6 months) or have certain autoimmune conditions.

## Lash & Brow Services

### How long does a lash lift last?
6-8 weeks. Your natural lash growth cycle determines longevity.

### Can I wear mascara after a lash lift?
After 24 hours, yes! But many clients find they don't need it.

### How is eyebrow lamination different from PMU?
Brow lamination is temporary (6-8 weeks) and works with your existing brow hairs to create a fluffy, lifted look. PMU adds color and fills gaps permanently.
